Stop Stuffing Around Bureaucrats and Provide Real Drought Funding

Stop Stuffing Around Bureaucrats and Provide Real Drought Funding

“It’s disappointing that the Government has decided to shuffle public service positions, and spend more money creating new offices within offices instead of providing real drought support,” said Member for Barwon Roy Butler.

Mr Butler’s comments follow the sacking of Jock Laurie, the government’s drought coordinator, to make way for the new Office of Drought Response.

“The drought coordinator’s position was set up to listen to farmers and communicate their views to government – to make sure their concerns surrounding drought had been heard.

Service station in Narrabri held up with knife

Service station in Narrabri held up with knife

Two men threatened a service station worker with a knife in a frightening early-morning attack in Narrabri today.

Police are investigating after the incident about 4.40am at the Newell Highway business, in which the men held the employee at knifepoint.

The thieves demanded money and cigarettes, but the employee was not harmed.

The men left the station with a cash and cigarettes and were last seen running north through bushland towards Kelvin Vickery Avenue.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and established a crime scene at the service station.

Police wish to speak with the occupant/s of a white, older-model ute seen driving from the location on Cooma Road shortly after the offence.

The dual-cab ute with a tray back was headed towards Narrabri.

Anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or nsw.crimestoppers.com.au
